Don't you forget about me.

The first few miles of a trip is always interesting.  You spend the last 10 minutes before leaving racking your brain trying to remember everything.  Then, in the first 2 hours of the drive you magically remember all the things you forgot to bring.  It never fails.

Last night, Kellen announced he was tired and ready for bed.  It was 10:00, which is a little later than normal for him, so it was reasonable for him to be ready to go to sleep.  We made up his bed and worked on getting the rest of the RV ready for bed time.  But instead of going to bed, Kellen went into "crazy" mode, which is to say he was driving me crazy.  It was at this moment I recalled a conversation with one of Kristin's co-workers, who's sage advice was "You can handle any situation as long as you have enough vodka." Then I remembered we forgot the vodka.  And the gin.  Beer is always an acceptable substitute but lets face it, you don't buy beer you rent it, and I prefer to limit bathroom trips in the night since I sleep on the upper bunk.   Frankly we were all pretty tired so by the time we all got undressed and into bed the madness had subsided and we all settled into a good night's sleep.

A good night's sleep is required for hunting, and Sunday morning means doughnuts (Yes, I'm an old fart and refuse to spell it donuts).  Refreshed, we headed back east to Greenfield to hunt for a doughnut store when we found the Sweet Shack.  All I can say is Winner!  Kellen in particular was in hog heaven.  4 fresh doughnuts and coffee - a whopping $3.70.  Kellen and Bella each went back for seconds (they managed to buy them on their own), with Kellen saving his for tomorrow morning.  Power food for another long day of driving.  Today we trade the Appalachian Mountains for mountains of corn.

A special thanks to Jody for using her camera to take the "before" picture of the trip that I posted yesterday.  We tried to take one with my phone camera, but ended up with a Vine.  I only mention that so I can send you all looking to wikipedia (except +Michael Sola ) to grab that reference.  See, I'm not that old after all.

Sent from the road : I-74 west of Peoria. (Yes, Kristin is driving, with Bella as co-pilot running the music)
